Opening weekend at Ravensthorpe Reservoir
The weather was kinder than usual on Saturday when Ravensthorpe re-opened its doors to anglers. Although ice free for the first time in four years it was still chilly. One stalwart said “You don’t feel the cold when you are catching fish”. This was certainly the case for Ray Jeffrey and Clive Wilkins who had a five pounder apiece in their 12 fish haul on black nymphs on sinking lines. Mike Mason and Ron Oldroyd put 20 fish in their boat fishing small black lures on inter lines near the Island. Iaol Mylam from Weston Super Mare had 8 fish on and kicking and managed to land four. His tactics were floating line, three foot leader and a small blue gold head.
Peter strikes Gold!
We celebrated our first winner of 2010 before the season had even started. From the weekly returns submitted by our season ticket holders we hold an annual draw. The lucky winner was 2009 season ticket holder Peter de Kremer. Peter wins a valuable Gold season ticket.

- Grafham Water opens Friday 19 March
- Grafham Water opens on Friday 19 March. Anglers can fish for the New Lodge Trophy for the biggest fish caught on Opening Day. The Bob Church Open for the Frank Cutler Memorial Trophy is on 11 April.
- Beginners courses: 13,17 & 28 March; 10 & 21 April; 1,8,23 & 27 May and other dates throughout the season
- Rutland Water opens Thursday 1 April
- Rutland Water re-opens with the Independence Day Trophy for the biggest fish.
- Beginners courses: 6, 20 & 24 March; 11,14 & 18 April; 1,7,15 & 29 May
