Season Starts In Style On River Dee - 11/03/2010

The salmon fishing season has started well on Deeside with 34 spring salmon landed during the opening two days.

The fishing has been fantastic and some of the highlights include Tony Riley’s 15lb sea-liced fish from the Lawson Pool at Tilbouries, near Aberdeen, an area that’s very productive through the spring months. Middle Blackhall is also producing fish, with John Fyfe catching a lovely opening day springer. Elsewhere on the Middle Blackhall stretch Jim Fisher, captor of last season’s biggest opening-day fish, was also off the mark this year. He commented: “I was happy to get a prized opening-day fish on Middle Blackhall from the Rock Heads, a beat I had never fished before.”

At the Ballogie beat, well-known angler and Aboyne golf club professional Steven Moir caught up with an 8lb springer from Inchbare.
