Rutland’s Monster Rainbow - 05/07/2010

Nigel Woodroffe, from Shrewsbury, recently netted a huge 13lb 6¾oz rainbow trout – the biggest rainbow since Mike Burnside broke the record with a 14lb 4oz rainbow back in 2002.

Nigel was boat fishing up in the South Arm when he was lucky enough to hook the fish using that deadly little Welsh nymph the Diawl Bach, fished slow on a floating line. After the trout took his offering a hectic battle ensued. The fish was seen several times, so he knew it was big, and after an anxious 15 minutes the fish was finally slipped over the rim of his net.
