Rutland Water
Fish week1,294 (season 18,232) Returns 402 (4,212) Rod average 3.21 (4.32).
Rutland Water is fishing well considering the variable weather conditions, with an impressive rod average of 3.21. Boat fishing has again dominated the numbers of fish caught, with bank fishing good in limited areas. Boat anglers have caught fish virtually all over the reservoir from the top of the North Arm all the way round to the Old Hall/Browns Island area of the South Arm.
One of the best bags of fish recorded last week fell to Yorkshire anglers Mike Barratt and Peter his boat partner who netted 14 fish for over 40lb from the North Arm. The fish fell to nymphs/buzzers on floating line. Lincolnshire angler Mick Atkinson recorded the best fish of the week a 6lb 7oz Rainbow.
Bank angler Malcolm Janik of Spilsby, Lincolnshire, has enjoyed consistent sport recently with numerous limits fishing between Sykes Lane and Whitwell, using nymphs. Malcolm has taken fish up to 3½lb recently.
Grantham angler Rob Holloway had a quick fire limit from the Sailing Club on Wednesday morning using diawl bachs on a floating line. One or two anglers have taken fish on the fly albeit in the late evening with fish only coming in/up after sunset.
