FISHERY REPORT - 12th December 2011
Summary Of Fishing: LOCHTER REPORT - Plenty of Fish for Hardy Fishers.
It looks as if those Bing Crosby fans who are dreaming of a white Christmas could very well have their wishes met as the wintery weather has arrived and the forecast is for it to continue. There will of course be nice crisp days when it is a pleasure to be out and about as well as stormy days when it is best to be tucked up indoors.
During the past week that has been the pattern and anglers who did decide to give it a go at Lochter Fishery did very well. The fish appeared to be in hungry mode building up strength for the winter ahead and plenty came to the net.
Andy Robertson had fourteen with his best at 6lb using a mix of nomads, fritz and bunny leach and Kevin Neri made two visits in spite of the chill and had bags of thirteen and twelve which is not to be sneezed at.
Fishers are having to go a bit deeper to find the fish particularly on the Muckle Troot loch and Pete Green had a fantastic day using slowly retrieved bloodworms and wooly worms he had thirty fish to his name while partner Karen Gillies did brilliantly with nineteen using the same set up.
On a very cold day Dave Simpson scored well using cutthroat cats and cormorants he ended with a bag of nineteen of which he kept two to have as a change from turkey and released the rest.
Other anglers who had bags in double figures included Steve Corsar with sixteen, D Parkinson with ten on a bunny leach and Paul Wilson with a dozen so there were plenty of happy anglers.
The winter league has been very well supported again this year and anglers have been getting their December heats in early.
Weather permitting the fishery will be open throughout the season with the exception of the 25th and 26th of December and the 1st and 2nd of January.
