FISHERY REPORT - 9th April 2012
Summary Of Fishing: Some superb fishing again this week, with 70 rods catching 347 fish.
Best bags of 16lb 8oz each went to Mr R Fisher and Mr A Champion with Mr R Love taking 15lb 12oz and Mr A J Turner 13lb 11oz. Mr R Smith weighed in with a bag of 13lb 8oz whilst Mrs M Carden had a bag of 12lb 11oz. Mr S Lee and Mr J Tarrant both managed totals of 12lb 8oz. A variety of flies, from Booby to Buzzer are proving effective, with Damsels, Tadpole and Montana also doing well.
The largest fish of the week (5lb 15oz) fell to a Booby fished by Mr R Fisher on a sinking line. Other good sized fish were caught by Mr R Fisher (5lb) to a Booby, Mr A Champion (5lb) to a Damsel and Mr R Love (4lb 10oz) to a Booby.
Additional News: We are still blessed with a full head of water, with the temperature remaining at a very healthy 10°C.
The first week of boat fishing has been successful, but most catches have been fairly close to the bank. The trout now appear to be moving further up the reservoir, with some good catches from Glennisters, near the Bird Sanctuary, and off the dam at Duffers Corner. The majority of fish, however, are still coming from the Bay.
The local weather forecast for the coming is for mainly rain and drizzle with some brighter periods particularly on Tuesday. Winds are mainly from the South and West with some strong breezes today and Tuesday, dying away toward the end of the week and veering to the North West. Temperatures are predicted at a maximum of 11° and a minimum of 4°.
