The weeks Action

Dave Willacy of Askam, Cumbria enjoyed his visit to the fishery recently and caught many rainbows on a combination of buzzers and diawl bach fished on a floating line. Jim Vasey and Mike Firth caught and released many hard fighting rainbows using Cdc emergers.

Fishery manager Andy Miller has been kept very busy with casting instruction and recently assisted local lad Matt Warwick with his casting technique. Later on that day, under the guidance of Andy, Matt was delighted when he caught a brace of rainbows on a dry daddy fished at the willows.

The English Disabled Fly Fishers Association enjoyed a tremendous turn out for their annual floating line boat competition. Twenty-eight anglers fished a seriously warm and bright day and caught a total of 148 fish, a fine rod average of 5.28. Ken waters of Wing won the heaviest fish trophy with a 3lb 3oz rainbow, the heaviest bag was taken by Pete Skillen with six rainbows for 13lb 11oz.

Visiting the fishery from Middlesbrough Neil Benjamin and Ian Simmons enjoyed a bit of a red letter 3 day special and by far their most successful visit to the fishery to date with many hard fighting rainbows caught on pheasant tail nymphs at the willows. Alex Booth Fly Fishers held their memorial boat competition at Eyebrook recently, the winner was Colin Marriott of Sandiacre with a bag limit that included a fine rainbow trout that weighed 7lb 3oz.
