Carsington Fishing Report - 8th August 2016

Lovely fish caught earlier this season during July. Another slight improvement with the rod average, with one calm evening this week producing fish on the surface.

Otherwise most fish have been caught on lures using sinking lines, wjilst drifting across towards the east shores.

     
     
     

Rod Average

The rod average for this week was 2.08 with 96 fish caught by 41 anglers.

Best Rainbow/Brown

The heaviest Rainbow was 3lb 8oz caught by Mr Mathews & Mr Hilton-Barker

The heaviest Blue was 2lb 12oz caught by Mr Neale

There were no browns recorded this week.

Top Spot

The most popular spots have been around buoys 4 & 5, Dam wall, main basin and the dam wall.

Methods & Flies

The most successful patterns were Boobies, Black & Green Fritz, Cats Whisker, pink snakes hot head Damsels.

Intermediate and sinking lines D17 & D13 with long leaders have proved the most successful.

Casting Lessons for beginners

An Introduction to fishing with a fly.

An opportunity to learn the basics of fly fishing, the course covers basic casting, knots and entomology. Our qualified instructor will provide all equipment for the course - you are welcome to bring your own. The sessions start at 10am and will last for approx 2 hours.

Autumn Open Competition

The Autumn competition date has been set as Saturday 8th October. The price and format will stay the same as previous years. As usual we expect this competition to be fully booked so book early to avoid disappointment! Bookings can be made online here
