A very good week for fishing at Bewl. The trout are on or near the surface and spread out across the water, providing plenty of good sport for all. Water quality has improved and the 'Bubble' is running aerating the lake and turning the water over. Anglers have reported catching up to 21 fish on catch and release permits and rod average for the week based on returns, is an excellent 4.03.
Best areas for boats have been across the Main Bowl and Hook Straight. Bank angling is more difficult as the fish are in the deeper water but a few are being caught from the Dam Wall and Chingley.
Successful flies have been lures such as Minkies and Boobies. Orange blobs are proving particularly popular.
The "Golden Trout" has not been caught yet. For an extra £2.50 you can enter the competition to catch and be in with a chance of winning £2,500.00.
