The fishing has been good this week with a further increase to the rod average.
The police held their annual competition on Wednesday with most of the boats choosing to drift across the mouth of fishtail for most of the day. This certainly proved to be the right idea as the 36 anglers caught and released 197 fish between them! Staffordshire police won the overall competition and Mick Cartlidge (Staffordshire) won the individual prize with 16 fish.
The North end has started to produce fish again along the edge of the weed banks and several nice Browns have been accounted for this week.
The rod average for this week was 6.28 with 371 fish caught by 59 anglers.
The heaviest Rainbow was 3lb 8oz caught by Mr Pearce
The heaviest Browns were 3lb caught by Mr Pearce and Mr Ellis
The most popular spots have been around buoys 4 and 5, Dam wall, Fishtail Creek, North End, Hall wood and the Back of Islands
Methods & Flies
The most successful patterns were both wet and dry flies including Boobies, Hot Head Damsels, Orange Blob, Snakes, Black Hopper and Minkies.
Di3, Intermediate and Floating lines have been used this week.
Last day of the season
The last day of the 2016 season will Sunday 30th October. We are takng bookings for closing weekend so don't miss out.
