101 rods caught 406 fish for weekly average of 4.0. Fishing was steady all week although the changing weather and winds this week did affect fishing especially at the start of the week. Notably, this week were
lots of black buzzers hatching so not surprisingly the fish started feeding on them, best tactics therefore, were buzzers and diawl bachs fished either on bung, washing line or fished slowly on floating or
intermediate lines. Other successful flies were damsels nymphs , Green and white or black and green lures and orange fritz patterns.
Kirby fly fishers held match on Sunday won by F. Parker with limit of 8 fish for 16 lb. 10 oz. runner up T. Retallik whose limit weighed 15lb but included the best fish, a lovely overwintered rainbow of 4lb 1 oz.
Rod average for match of 4.75
Other notable catches this week included Tut Miles who caught 14 in a short morning session on Thursday and Mark Hunt who on Saturday netted over 20 trout on small black buzzers fished on a washing line. Fish
still in the margins so best areas still opposite lodge, wood bank and around the lonesome pine.
We advise bank anglers to bring waders.
We would remind boat anglers that they are required to give way to bank anglers and unless mutually agreed to keep 40yds from other boats and bank anglers
