Ultralite DD
First up is the sunning new Ultralite DD reel range.
Just launched, the DD Ultralite (the DD standing for disk drag) is, as you would expect, exceptionally light. However, thanks to the design of the reel it is also extremely strong – and aesthetically stunning.
Available in a range of sizes from 4000 (4/5/6) and 10,000 (10/11/12) the reel has been 18months in development. It’s ultra large arbour size design is complemented by a narrow spool giving rapid line retrieval with superb line lay on the spool – which also features a captive screw release system.
Prices for the reel start at £229, with the 7000 size, which should be the most popular, costing £249.
XF2 Competition Specialist
Rod wise the XF2 Competition Special range looks superb.
A compliment of four rods make up the range, all of which are designed for Stillwater anglers looking to use modern heavy forward, shooting head, 40plus lines.
A stiff action giving crisp control over the big lines, the XF2 is available in 9foot 6inch 7weight along with 10foot 6, 7 and 8weights with prices for each rod being £219.99.
Also of interest will be the tube that the XF2 comes with. With anglers fishing this style usually taking two rods with them, the tube is actually designed to be able to carry two rods tip to butt.
The XF2 will be available in mid December.
GX flourocarbon
Also ready for launch from Hardy and Greys is the new GX fluorocarbon.
With superb knot and straight line strength, the GX is very competitively priced, with 50m costing £4.99 and 100m £9.99 (irrespective of breaking strain).
The new line is due for launch mid November.
