Feeling decidedly wintry this week, much cooler which appears to have switched sport on a little. Boat anglers have done particularly well with Danny Peet and Rick Varley fishing from the wheely boat taking 30 fish to 8lb between them, mainly on minkie patterns just beneath the surface.
These cold conditions should trigger further fry feeding activity and bring the fish into the margins where they would ordinarily be at this point in the year. Boat ramp and valve tower areas continue to produce pretty well as does the black pipe. Floaters or intermediates best with black or white lures, boobies and minkies.
Burton angler Ronnie Milloy is still making his small-beaded head buzzer pattern work taking upwards of 20 fish in three visits this week, with two around the 9lb mark. Paul Jesson from Grimsby also had a nice rainbow of 8lb 8oz.
A reminder that December opening is from 8am. Throughout December there will be a reduction in ticket prices plus free boats. Catch and release just £10 and a 2 fish ticket £12 (no OAP discounts available on these prices), 4 and 6 fish permits remain the same.
