Fishery offers cash reward for info on theft of tens of thousands of pounds of kit.
Anglers are being asked to look out for suspicious items of tackle for sale following a break in at fishery tackle shop, over the Christmas holidays.
Over £20k worth of tackle and flies was stolen from Northumberland’s Chatton Trout Fishery after thieves forced their way through the onsite tackle shop’s fire exit.
Fishery owner Roger Brown discovered the break in and has told total Flyfisher that the fishery is now offering a reward for any information that leads to a conviction.
“When I came in the morning after the break I could just see the fire door hangin off it hinges and knew straight away what had happened,” he told TFF. “They took pretty much everything. All the flies had gone, the rods, reels, lines, luggage, everything. We stock some premium tackle, including Loomis, Airflow and Sharps of Aberdeen rods, so there was over £20k worth of tackle taken.
“The police were here very quickly but have so far not got any leads, so we’re offering a cash reward for any information that leads to the thieves who did this being convicted.”
