Stafford fishery delivers glut of big fish as lures prove too tempting for specimens.
An impressive run of double figure trout has been reported from Stafford’s Seighford Lakes, after no less than eight fish over the magic 10lb mark up to 13lb 9oz caught from the venue last week.
Among the big fish brought to the bank was this chunky 11lb 8oz stunner landed by Crewe rod Ian Buckley. The fish was actually caught during a match at the venue, which offers two fly fishing pool, the specimen falling to a black and green lure on Swan Neck Lake.
According to Seighford’s Fishery Manager Phil Dixon, the larger fish caught on the lakes have mostly been falling for lures, with darker colours proving to be the best in the milder conditions. Egg flies are also worth a go, with green and blacks scoring well, while later in the day buzzers are also proving popular as the water temperatures creep up.
