Famed for its big residents, Gloucestershire’s Lechlade Trout Fisheries has more than lived up to its reputation recently with a string of specimens being banked.
Taking advantage of some good buzzer hatches, along with sedges and olives and lots of damsel anglers have been matching what’s on offer to bank some big lumps, with a fish average of over 8lb.
As usual it was the rainbows that brought the top weights, the biggest being a fish of a formidable 19lb 3oz caught by a Mr Lyne-Parkis. This was followed up by a big ‘bow of 15lb 10oz for a Mr Corbishley.
The big browns of the venue were also on the feed though. The biggest recorded so far this month being 12lb 8oz specimen caught by a Mr Lacey – although with a stocking of big brownies going in over the Easter bank holiday there’s high hopes of even bigger fish coming out soon.
