Salmon angler has amazing run of form with two fish of a life time.
The river Wye continues its run of amazing salmon fishing, following the capture of a brace of high 20lb fish by one angler.
Salmon angler Clive Peglar banked a stunning fish, conservatively estimated to have weighed 25lb, at the end of March from the Wye and Usk’s famous Courtfield stretch as the river hit its best form for decades. Although a fish a of a lifetime, there was still even better to come for the Weston-Super-Mare based rod, who last week revisted Courtfield to take stunning cock fish of 27lb.
Fishing the Willow Pool beat of the Courtfield stretch between Ross-on-Wye and Monmouth, the bigger fish took 10minutes to land after giving Clive the ‘fight of his life’.
Amazingly Clive also hooked and lost what was thought to be an even larger specimen, with estimates of over 30lb, on the same day, again from Willow Pool.
Had Clive managed to land the bigger fish he could well have set the heaviest brace caught in the UK this year.
