Anglers in the Peak District are enjoying superb sport. The weekly rod average at 750-acre Carsington Water is approaching eight fish per visit with the week’s tally showing 755 caught by 99 anglers.
Heaviest of the week is a 4lb 8oz rainbow that fell to a Montana presented by regular visitor Bob Mayers and many of the fish at the boat-only water have been taken from areas quite close to the bank. Hotspots include Fishtail Creek, Upperfields Bay, Shiningford Creek and Tower Bank.
The fishery is offering casting courses for beginners and there are two, two-hour sessions planned in the coming weeks. Places cost £25 per person and dates are Sunday 17th June and Sunday 15th July. Anyone interested in introducing a friend to the sport can book a place online at www.carsingtonwater.com.
There will also be some short, taster casting sessions as part of Carsington Water’s Fun Day on Saturday, 30th June. More details will be on the Carsington website over the coming weeks.
