Thousands of pounds worth of angling books taken by scrap metal thieves.
Thieves have stolen thousands of pounds worth of flyfishing books during a robbery over the Jubilee bank holiday weekend leaving their owner devastated at the loss.
Paul Morgan of Coch-Y-Bonddu Books in mid Wales, made the heart-breaking discovery over the weekend after thieves are believed to have broken into his industrial unit compound to steal racking to sell on as scrap metal. However, as well as the metal they also stole a trailer loaded with hundreds of angling books ready for and up-coming show worth anywhere up to £30k in total.
“I doubt they even knew what was in the trailer when they took it and they will not be worth anything to the thieves as they couldn’t possibly sell them all, the only person that would buy books like that in those volumes is me,” Paul told TFF. “My concern is that they will just dump them in a lay-by somewhere in the rain or burn them which would be a massive shame. A lot of the books are new, but many are important antiques with more the monetary value attached to them.”
Anyone who comes across any flyfishing books in volume in the Powys area or elsewhere can contact Paul with information on 01654 702837.
