Pitsford Weekly Report

Venue fishing report for the week ending November 6.

Pitsford Water
Fish week 157 (season 16,352 ) Returns 59 (4,772) Rod average 2.6 (3.4)

Rob Young got more than he bargained for when he netted a generous sized Pike  whilst fishing Pitsford Water on a trout ticket last Friday.  Rob writes “This lovely fish took my size 10 minkie on an 8lb fluorocarbon leader on the second cast of the day (a great way to wake me up and test my knots first thing!). I was fishing about 20 yards off Stone Barn. After a 25 minute fight, I landed it – fortunately it threw the hook in the net as I didn't naturally, have any forceps. I didn't have scales, either, but it's about 37 1/2 inches long and quite deep.

I had a great day, probably the last of this season, and two fine trout, 3lb each. I always enjoy coming to Pitsford – your staff are always extremely friendly and helpful. The pike was an unexpected and thrilling experience.”

The Civil Service Sports Club fished Pitsford Water last Thursday.  26 Anglers fished and recorded 8 Pike with the best up to 7lb 10oz.

Boat anglers are catching up to 6 trout per boat per day, all of excellent quality.

Bank anglers are still catching a few good fish - make sure your leader material is up to the test.  Steve Crowder of London banked a 3lb 15oz Rainbow on Sunday afternoon.  The fish was feeding on Stickleback close to the bank.

We still have places left for the Fur and Feather match this Sunday 13 November.  Entry includes a hot meal and a cold beer, with the chance to win some fantastic prizes in time for Christmas.  Call Kay or Chris on 01604 781350 between 8am and 2pm.
