Venue fishing report for the week ending November 11.
103 rods caught 355 fish rod av. 3.4
It has been an odd week at the fishery this week, with damp and dreary conditions the last few days, but mild by day and night. This seems to have switched things back a little with naturals doing well again and the fish appearing to spread right across the middle.
Generally by this point in November we have had one or two decent frosts, which kill off the fly life and switch the fish on to the fry and feeding in the margins - as yet though, we haven't seen this change properly.
Several nice fish out again to 10Ib 8oz caught by Brian Simmons from Mansfield on a black tadpole. Tom Beebe from Horncastle also had a good session, catching his six fish limit to a new Toft best for him at 6Ib 4oz.
Towards the end of the week Rod Newborough and John Lilley fished from a drifting boat and had a dozen fish to 7Ib in just a few hours fishing dry orange Shipman's. Others on the bank have been fishing CDC and hopper patterns with the old minkie booby/diawl bach washing line combo working well too.
Still stocking until at least the end of November and a reminder that the season is extended until December 18, with the fur and feather match taking place on that day. December opening will be from 8am.
