BFFI 2014, the UKs largest specialist fly fishing show sponsored by Veniards, Right Angle Fishing and Chevron Hackles is rapidly approaching. Taking place on February 8th and 9th at Stafford County Show Ground, the event is a one-stop shop for all things fly related.
Held in an indoor exhibition centre covering an area of 27,000 square feet, the show will feature over 50 individual exhibitors with everything to interest the serious fly fisher. On display will be tackle, destination fishing, conservation bodies, rod builders as well as an extensive range of fly-tying products.
There will be a bring-and-buy tackle stand and on the Saturday, and Malcolm Greenhalgh will be hosting a charity auction of unique items donated by BFFI demonstrators in aid of the Izaak Walton Cottage Trust.
A plethora of quality demonstrations will be taking place, including an extensive casting programme being organised by Karl Humphries and his team held in the outdoor casting area. Back inside Luke Bannister will be running a series of cane rod making and furled leader demonstrations and Stuart Crofts will have a live entomology demonstration. Charles Jardine will be on hand demonstrating his talent with a paint brush.
Two theatre/demonstration areas will be running throughout the course of each day, On the Fly Fair Forum, presentations will be hosted by John Tyzack (Importance of Fly selection), John Pearson and Paul Gaskell (Tenkara), David Woolston-Croft Dodds (Pike) and Stuart Crofts (the River Angler's Year).
The Fly Tying in Focus Theatre will feature demonstrations by top tyers including Hans Weilenmann, Johan Klingberg, Johan Putt, Stef Jones and Stack Scoville. As always a major feature of the show will be the International Fly-Tying Rows with over 45 demonstrators from across Europe and beyond showing their skills. A fly-tying clinic will run over both days to help with fly-tying problems.
