The South West Lakes Trust are running a fantastic new competition called Best of the Best this season with £5,000 in cash up for grabs, plus a season ticket to cover all the Trust’s waters and subscriptions to Total Flyfisher magazine.
To qualify for the final, which is to be held at Wimbleball Lake in Somerset on Sunday, October 5th, you need to catch the heaviest or second heaviest rainbow trout in any one week up until Sunday, September 21st at the following five venues: Kennick, Wimbleball, Siblyback, Stithians, Burrator. Two people will qualify from each venue per week.
Any size rainbow could qualify you for the final, but you must record your catch on the green entry forms located in the permit room at each venue, and have it weighed and witnessed either by another angler or a member of staff.
There are four cash prizes, with the top rod on the day picking up a cool £2,000 in cash, with the runner-up getting £1,500, third £1,000 and fourth £500. The fifth-placed angler will receive a season ticket that covers all South West Lakes Trust waters.
But that’s not all, as the top 10 anglers on the day will receive a wooden Turrall fly box with selection of flies, plus a 12-month subscription to Total Flyfisher magazine, and anyone in the top 100 will get three-month subscription to Total Fly Fisher magazine.
There will be further prizes on the day for the largest and the smallest fish, plus a host of other sponsored prizes including rods, reels and tackle accessories.
The anglers who have qualified for the final are listed on the Trust’s Facebook page ‘Trout Fishing South West Lakes Trust’.
