Three of Anglian Water’s top trout fishing reservoirs – Grafham, Rutland Water and Pitsford – have published the dates of its 2015 fly fishing courses for beginners. Everyone is welcome to apply, with the courses at Rutland running from late February until the end of October, The Pitsford ones from the start of March until the middle of October, and the Grafham sessions from the beginning of March until the end of September. The dates include both weekday and weekend events.
The courses cost £77 per adult and £50 per junior (14 to 17), with a course booklet, a light lunch and use of tackle included.
Every course is run by experienced, qualified instructors, where students you will receive a full day's tuition – covering tackle, casting techniques, presentation, trout behaviour and safety.
Grafham will also be hosting a course to improve bank fishing techniques on Sunday, November 8th, and there will be courses covering boat-handling skills.
After completing the course, students will be entitled to buy a Starter Season Permit, which gives access to all four trout fisheries, with a limit of two trout per day – up to a total of 75 fish over the season.
For the predator anglers: Grafham will also be hosting a learn to fly fish for pike course on Sunday, 20th September, where coach Peter Hartley will be on hand to put students through their paces.
