Award-winning angler and director of the Countryside Alliance’s Fishing 4 Schools project Charles Jardine is to run this year’s Virgin London Marathon in aid of the charity.
Charles, 62, who is the oldest runner on the Countryside Alliance Foundation team by “a few years”, will take part in the event, his second, on Sunday, 26th April, and he is looking for sponsors.
“To contemplate running a marathon at the age of 62, is an act of clinical insanity,” said Charles. “Fishing 4 Schools and the Countryside Alliance Foundation are such amazing causes; I could not pass up the chance.”
As founder of the Fishing 4 Schools initiative, Charles has introduced hundreds of youngsters to the joy of fishing and the beauty of our waterways
The charity is run entirely on donations, which is why Charles was inspired to pull on his running shoes to help a worthwhile project, which brings confidence, joy and motivation to the young participants.
