A fine week soaking up the Gran Canerian sun with a smuggled seven-piece #5 rod and a few bits and bobs in the suitcase...

Went down to the sea and saw mullet in their thousands but catching them proved a real challenge. They're as spooky as any fish I've ever stalked...

A lightly weighted nymph, allowed to settle onto the sand, and then tweaked up into the water column as the fish approached did all the damage.

I ended up with six fish, none of them huge, but all legitimately caught on fly and I was chuffed to bits. I can competition from a bait boy and a spearfisher, but had more than them put together!
