A seriously scary Andrew Barton revives memories of when he used to terrify anglers on the Pitsford boat pontoon!
Quiet week with little fishing…in fact none at all!
Pitsford Water said goodbye to Kay Mains their retail assistant after twelve years of working in the shop. She was presented with some John Lewis vouchers, a hand made pottery fish and a superb carved wooden owl crafted in some terrific detail by former Pitsford warden Andrew Barton.
Did anyone spot the picture of Bewl head ranger Bob Barden in last week’s national newspapers? The genial Bob was photographed standing on the boat pontoon with very little water underneath him…in fact like my fishing, none at all. No news as yet from Anglian Water about extra river extraction rates to fill the reservoirs and if they are anything like Pitsford Water many will be down to below 50% which is getting towards critical levels with many water companies talking of drought warnings already.
Been busy putting Anglian Water’s Hooked magazine together which, I’m very pleased to say, will be going out as a loose insert in this magazine’s April 2012 issue. So get your other half to gift you a Christmas subscription to Total Flyfisher so you don’t miss it.
Some really good news for all you hardy winter anglers is that for the 2012/2013 season you will be able to bank fish at Pitsford Water. Great! I will be able to try out all that cold weather gear the wife will be buying me…not!
